Field hospital with limited resources in war area could have a role in the management of this less devastating head injures patients.
Methods: During a 6 months of Syrian civil war (October 2012- March 2013), 30 patients with low velocity penetrating head injuries was referred to a 3 different field hospitals managed by the same surgical team. The patient inclusion criteria were including Glasgow coma scale (GCS) ranged from 11 to 15, whom didn’t need for neuroscience intensive care unit (NICU) admission. Patients had laboratory and image before management decision. After surgery, the patient had short term admission before discharge and follow up at outpatient clinic.
Results: The mean age for civil war victim was 26. ± 10.1and most of cases were males. All cases had penetrating metal shrapnel injuries from barrel bomb explosion. The majority of cases had GCS =15 (43.3%). Frontal lobe was the most frequent affected lobe (53.3%). The most frequent CT finding was contusion, edema and mass effects (60%). Surgery was reported in (83.3%) with no reported mortality. Surgical outcome was affected by pre hospital chronic illness P= 0.04 and, numbers of affected brain lobes by penetrating metal (P= 0.001).
Conclusion: Surgical outcome of penetrating head injuries patients can be affected number of the affected brain lobes by penetrating metal and bone fragments. Field hospital in war area could be valid in the management of such patient.https://muj.journals.ekb.eg/article_119888_df995f94b2365a11cbd8e92ad0fd687f.pdfPort said University, Faculty of MedicineMedicine Updates2682-27414420210101Validity Of Right Ventricular Strain In Prediction Of Successful Simple Cardiac Shunt Closure588112319710.21608/muj.2020.47789.1033ENDina AbdelhamidHarouncardiology department, faculty of medicine, port said universityLaila MohamedEL-MaghawryCardiology department,Faculty of medicine,Zagazig universityAzza ZakariaEl ErakyCardiology department,Faculty of medicine,Port Said UniversityMahmoud Shehata Abd El HamidShehatacardiology department, faculty of medicine, port said university, port said, Egypt.Sohil Abdulla AhmedElfarCardiology department,Faculty of medicine,Port Said UniversityJournal Article20201026Background: Pulmonary arterial hypertension in congenital heart disease is reversed by early shunt closure, but this potential is lost beyond a certain point of no return. this study was conducted to evaluate the results of simple cardiac shunt closure regarding right ventricular function using speckle tracking and reversibility of pulmonary hypertension, testing its ability to provide information with minimal risk,we detected right ventricular function in simple cardiac shunt patients before closure using longitudinal strain and to investigate its role in predicting reversibility of pulmonary hypertension after closure
Methods: a prospective randomized comparative study, simple shunt patients from age 25-48 years presented to Zagazig University hospitals, cardiology department from September 2018 to July 2019 were divided into two groups Group I: ten patients having irreversible pulmonary hypertension. Group II: Twenty patients having reversible pulmonary hypertension.
Results: There was statistically significant increase in Group II post closure regarding LVEF, RVFAC,TAPSE,SRV, RVLS (P< 0.05). While PASP showed significant decrease in Group II post closure (P < 0.05). On the other hand, RVLS was negatively correlated with the defect size (r = -0.65; p = <0.001), Qp/Qs (r = -0.53, p = <0.001), PASP (r = -0.8, p = <0.001). Many studies were conducted for studying the relationship and the interaction between the thyrostat and the lipostat which till present is incompletely understood. The aim of this work was to study serum leptin levels in patients suffering from thyrotoxicosis who are newly diagnosed treatment naïve patients, thus the association between leptin and thyroid hormones can be purified as much as possible.
Methods: a case control study conducted at Port-Said General hospital endocrine out-patient clinic. The study included 15 patients with thyrotoxicosis and 30 control euthyroid subjects (15 lean, 15 obese). All of the included patients are analyzed for thyroid profile and serum leptin.
Results: The results revealed a statistically significant difference regarding serum leptin between the Thyrotoxic group and control obese. No correlation was found between serum leptin and either BMI, TSH, Free T3 or Free T4 in each of the studied group, but a significant negative correlation was found between leptin and either free T3 and free T4 in the combined groups.
Conclusion: Serum leptin level is lower in treatment naive thyrotoxic patients when compared to euthyroid control. The serum leptin showed no correlation with either BMI or TSH, also no correlation was found between serum leptin and free T3 or free T4 in each of the studied group suggesting presence of other factors that indirectly affect and interconnect these two major endocrinal systems involving energy metabolism.https://muj.journals.ekb.eg/article_125852_b6993ada8340cb77a465411a5bb0aa04.pdfPort said University, Faculty of MedicineMedicine Updates2682-27414420210101Hospital Crisis Preparedness Plan For COVID-19 Pandemic10311913333510.21608/muj.2020.51668.1036ENAhmed MohamedELSukkaryMansoura UniversityHebaElsayedPort Said UniversityJournal Article20201130Background: Healthcare facilities like ( Hospital , clinics , Pharmacies … etc. ) have a vital role in response to emergencies on an international and local scales , as in infectious disease epidemics , The readiness of hospitals facing pandemic threats like pandemic like ( SARS-COV2 ) in appropriate way is dictated to huge extent by health infrastructures of countries and local regions.
During this pandemic many facilities have a chance, even with all risks and challenges that is the facility facing, to provide a special service and have a chance to make a remarkable contribution to healthcare infrastructure in their countries by making their organizations a value-based model.
The main goal of this plan is to ensure that Hospital management has held effective policies and procedures for implementing a program for Emergency Risk management plan capable to facing effectively risks like pandemics, providing perfect services in flied where mistakes costs a lot.https://muj.journals.ekb.eg/article_133335_c5fe8e4416dfc77eb18381d62af65b7e.pdfPort said University, Faculty of MedicineMedicine Updates2682-27414420210101Proposal of the therapeutic nutrition clinic TNC, project in Port-Said university hospital12013713354610.21608/muj.2020.55594.1037ENNesma AdelElgoharyHistology & genetics department
